It's Now Open!!!!!

Glasgow's long awaited £692 million M74 Motorway Extension finally opened last night.  The opening means that motorists using the route can expect to see at least 10 minutes cut from their journeys.  Not only will this improve journey times but reduce traffic congestion on roads across Glasgow & South Lanarkshire.

The new extension will provide an alternative route across Glasgow & South Lanarkshire which will help reduce traffic on many local roads over a wide area for example:

Dalmarnock Road                10% traffic reduction

Rutherglen Main St             15% traffic reduction

London Road                     10% traffic reduction

(east of Parkhead Cross)

It will also compliment other proposed major projects in central Scotland like the East End Regeneration Route. Thus improving & providing a better service for transport users and allowing a bigger share of local roads space for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
