It's Now Open!!!!! |
| 2011-06-29 09:07:30 |
Glasgow's long awaited £692 million M74 Motorway Extension finally opened last night. The opening means that motorists using the route can expect to see at least 10 minutes cut from their journeys. Not only will this improve journey times but reduce traffic congestion on roads across Glasgow & South Lanarkshire. The new extension will provide an alternative route across Glasgow & South Lanarkshire which will help reduce traffic on many local roads over a wide area for example: Dalmarnock Road 10% traffic reduction Rutherglen Main St 15% traffic reduction London Road 10% traffic reduction (east of Parkhead Cross) It will also compliment other proposed major projects in central Scotland like the East End Regeneration Route. Thus improving & providing a better service for transport users and allowing a bigger share of local roads space for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. |
M74 COMPLETION OPEN TO TRAFFIC ON 28TH JUNE 2011 |
| 2011-06-17 04:34:21 |
(8 MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE!!) Great News!! Rush hour traffic should be reduced when the new M74 extension opens in a couple of weeks. New junctions include Cambuslang Road, Fullarton Road and Polmadie Road. This should hopefully improve journey times and reduce traffic congestion on roads across Glasgow & South Lanarkshire. One of our closest junctions is Cambuslang Road. To meet this new junction from Dalmarnock Road east of Springfield Road junction proceed eastwards joining Cambuslang Road at Farmecross junction. Continue east along Cambuslang Road and you will meet the new junction. The completion will help grow Scotland’s economy by improving transport links throughout Scotland. This will bring new jobs, particularly along the route but also across the west of Scotland. It will help with the regeneration and play a key role in the delivery of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014. |
